Keynote Presentation by Dr Harold Sanchez, Associate Chief of Pathology and Medical Director of Microbiology, Hospital of Central Connecticut:
"Five Percent of the World: The 1918 Spanish Influenza Pandemic"
Additional presentation by Dr Kimberlee Musser of the Antibiotic Resistance Laboratory Network (ARLN). The ARLN supports nationwide lab capacity to rapidly detect antibiotic resistance in healthcare, food, and the community, and inform local responders to prevent spread and protect people. The AR Lab Network includes seven regional labs and labs in 50 states, five cities and Puerto Rico. It is designed to detect existing and emerging types of antibiotic resistance, track emerging resistance more effectively, and generate stronger data to protect people and combat future resistance threats. Dr. Musser from the Wadsworth Center, the regional laboratory serving the Northeast Region will present the goals of the AR Lab Network, explain how to access the AR Lab Network testing services and describe the critical role clinical lab partners play in the AR Lab Network
